Case Study - Alliance Development

Type of Organisation: Construction Company and Government Organisations

Project Requirements:
The objective for this project was to assist in the development and maintenance of the relationships within the Alliance. This project had very sensitive cultural and political issues. The project was being constructed on aboriginal land in a very remote area with alliance methodology, which was new to many of the people involved in the job. In order for the project to be a success it was absolutely paramount that the relationships within the project remained effective and did not regress into the adversarial approach most familiar to the industry.

Our process:
Outgoing Development Australia is proud to say that it was involved in this extremely successful Alliance Project from the very beginning. We assisted the initial team in the entire selection process, through both the development of the submission and the interview phase. We then assisted in the development of the final alliance team by designing and implementing processes that helped the team merge successfully with the client.

In the initial stages of the project, a Development Foundation Workshop was conducted to set a sound basis from which the team could work for the duration of the project. Following this, the management and board members of the project were involved in regular “health check” workshops. These workshops were designed to assess the team's effectiveness and also determine ways and means for it to be improved further.

During the health checks, the team was able to evaluate its performance using tailor-made questionnaires that focused on assessing the commitments, which the team members had made to each other. These ratings would contribute to the overall Key Performance Indicators for the project, which in turn determined the distribution of funds allocated to these indicators. The workshops also allowed the team to discuss and resolve pertinent issues as well as spend time focusing on the development of innovative ideas or brainstorming of ideas to continually improve the project outcomes.
