Case Study - Team Development

Type of Organisation: Mining

Project Requirements:
Our initial brief was to design and deliver a Team Building program to assist each of the crews to work effectively together. After facilitating five programs, Outgoing Development was asked to be involved with implementing a long-term Team Development process with the Preparation Plants.

Intervention:
This project included the design and facilitation of a Leadership Development program for Managers and Supervisors in order for them to develop new skills enabling them to cope with their changing roles. We also designed and implemented a series of programs, coaching and communication to instill a culture of teams within the Wash Plants, from the Production Manager through to the Shift Crews

The first Preparation Plant became a model site for the mine in terms of teamwork. A number of dysfunctional behaviours were confronted and addressed and supervisors formed a cooperative team to address issues and manage the plant. There was a high level of involvement and enthusiasm in the process. Both the Preparation Plants and the Mine Planning Division adopted the process.
